About Me

I've been playing with computers since my school built a new sixth-form block back in 1989 with a lab full of Acorn Archimedes systems. After graduating from university with an admittedly very poor degree, I worked for McDonald's and Toyota before going back to college to study for the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification. I quickly got a job as an Assistant Accountant at a local practice where I still work.

In the meantime, I've developed as a hobby on and off since then, mainly using Visual Studio. Eventually published my first mobile app BelleChat - an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client for the Symbian platform. Since then, I've transferred to Windows Phone (where I've currently published WhereAmI and am working on wpCycle) and I'm also busy learning ASP.NET for my Wiresmoke project.

Along the way I've had help and support from friends and family, as well as from Nokia (now Microsoft Mobile), who have helped with developer tools and even a free Lumia handset. I've also recently been accepted onto the Microsoft BizSpark program. This is without mentioning the countless generous developers who have published samples and code snippets to help fellow developers such as myself. I hope to continue this fine tradition with my GitHub library.
